Leadership and Science
In the leadership class, students will:
• be inspired to center their lives on the ultimate example of leadership: Jesus Christ
• learn about great men and women and the Christ-like character traits they developed
• be guided in setting monthly goals in the four areas the Church promotes: spiritual, intellectual, physical and social
• be invited to start and complete the Book of Mormon within the school year
"In my opinion, the highest, noblest purpose in all our education from the grades to the university is to teach citizenship and noble character…" David O. McKay
In the science class, students will learn:
· The majesty and wonder of God’s creations as they use the seven days of creation as a launching point to study light; water; the sun, moon and stars; plants; animals; and God's crowning creation: mankind.
· Read story-like science readings to help make science come alive. Students will learn about some of the great scientists and that their profound faith in God underpinned their scientific discoveries and confirmed their belief in God.
· Participate in weekly science experiments and hands-on projects
· Study from an award-winning Christian curriculum Berean Builders
"All things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth..., and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." Alma 30:44
Leadership and Science
Power of Stories
Science will come alive as students read engaging, story-like science books. They will also read inspiring biographies to learn about the lives and habits of great men and women.
Hands-On Learning
Experiments will be a regular part of the science class. Group work and activities will also be incorporated into the leadership class to engage the students and deepen their learning.
Goal Setting
Students will be inspired to change as they set weekly goals in four areas: spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical. An accountability partner will help them stay motivated.
