"It is the business of the heart for a long time before it is the business of the mind." Pestalozzi
Well-Educated Heart
Inspired by Well-Educated heart philosophy, we use powerful and memorable stories to teach principles and lesson. We also utilize songs, paintings, poetry, and engaging activites to warm their hearts to the subjects being taught.
We also use the principles from Charlotte Mason of short lessons and a variety of subjects to keep the children's interest as well as poem and scripture memorization.
Uplifting Stories
Stories are a powerful, memorable way to learn. Our devotionals often include spiritual stories. The science lessons also include a nature and science stories from the Sonlight curriculum. We end the day with an uplifting classic read aloud that teaches morals such as The Secret Garden.
Warming the Heart
We believe children need to have their “hearts warmed” toward a subject. Using the Good and the Beautiful's Little Hands and Heart curriculum, we introduce the children to science and nature in a way that is inviting, fun, and engaging in order to spark their curiosity and create wonder.
Poems to Memorize
Even very young children can start filling their minds with a treasury of memorized verses and poems. We will repeat all the verses and poems we learn each month to help them stick and by the end of the year, the children will have a mind full of beautiful verses and poems.
