EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHIES

Thomas Jefferson Education

We strongly draw upon principles from A Thomas Jefferson Education by Oliver DeMille which outlines leadership education including studying classics and pursuing one's life mission.

Teachings of Charlotte Mason

Influenced by Charlotte Mason’s teachings, we memorize scriptures and poems, read living books, sing folk songs and introduce handicrafts, folk dancing, and classical music.

Well-Educated Heart Philosophy

Inspired by Well-Educated Heart philosophy, we use powerful and memorable stories to teach. We also utilize the arts to warm their hearts to the subjects being taught.

“This class provides an exceptional learning experience with the teachers beautifully integrating U.S. history, the gospel, inspiring literature, hands-on activities, and service to inspire greatness." Lindy H.

HIGH QUALITY CURRICULUM

History

Our history curriculum comes from the Leadership Education Mentoring Institute for grades 6-9 including scholar projects. Curriculum from LEMI teaches leadership education by focusing on discussions, student presentations, simulations, and reading classics.

Leadership

We are using both the Heroic Youth program and the Belle Ame at Home club “Signers of the Declaration of Independence” which highlight the lives of great people and the principles by which they governed their lives. The students will also set goals and check in with accountability partners weekly.

Science

For science, we will be using The Good and the Beautiful curriculum for the 5-11 year olds and Berean Builders and the upper-level Chemistry Unit from The Good and the Beautiful for the 11 to 15-year-olds. These curricula are engaging, integrate stories, and provide hands-on experiments.

LEMI Institute and Belle Ame at Home are not afiliated with any religion.

"It's everything I've been wanting and hoping to do at home. Thanks a million!" Kendra T.

Friendship and Community

We help foster friendship and community for both the students and mothers through weekly gatherings after class on Thursdays rotating between baptism temple trips, park days, service projects, and hiking.
