CULTURES OF THE WORLD
In our Cultures of the World class, cultures will come alive as students learn about ancient civilizations in interactive, creative, and thought-provoking ways. Students will join in an aboriginal storytelling, engage in a Central America market, model a Chinese workshop, plan an ideal city, participate in a Greek play, and many additional hands-on experiences. The second semester will focus on ancient Greek culture where students will explore the origins of science, math, logic, and the art of rhetoric, unlocking the power of beautiful language through poetry reading, writing, and recitation. This is a great class to prepare your student to speak with more confidence and improve on their writing skills.

“Our aim of education is to give a full life. We owe it to them to initiate an immense number of interests.”
–Charlotte Mason

"Spread the Feast"
Charlotte Mason, a great English educator, advocated that we need to "spread the feast" or introduce our students to a variety of subjects to inspire a wide range of interests and to help each person live a fuller life. In the Miracle of America class, we not only teach history, but also memorize scriptures and poems, study great composers and classical music, teach handicrafts, handwriting, geography, folk songs and folk dances. It is a comprehensive class full of variety and joy!
We also use principles of leadership education with discussions, brief student presentations, historical simulations, and inspiring the youth that they have a great life mission. From Well-Educated Heart, our primary teaching method is captivating stories.
Art and Artist Appreciation
Students will gain an appreciation for a variety of artists and their art. We will focus on a different artist each semester by learning about his or her life and closely viewing and pondering his or her artwork. Students can't love what they don't know.

Music and Composer Appreciation
We will learn about a different composer and his music each semester learning to hear each distinctive style. We will also highlight stories of their spiritual natures including stories of them receiving inspiration from heaven in composing.

Handicrafts: Skill and Creativity
Handicrafts bring joy, confidence and a sense of accomplishment as the students create their own projects. We rotate between 2-4 handicrafts each year such a looming, crocheting, wood carving, leather work, beadwork, and water coloring.
